Recruitment Manager at Akkodis – Finding the best talent for the European Space Agency @akkodis.com
In fast changing markets, customers worldwide rely on Thales. Thales is a business where brilliant people from all over the world come together to share ideas and inspire each other. In aerospace, transportation, defence, security and space, our architects design innovative solutions that make our tomorrow’s possible.
About the team
The System Engineering department is responsible for designing new products and overseeing software and hardware development. Within this department, the Specialty Engineering team, comprising around 30 engineers, focuses on the specification, analysis, and design of system aspects, including system safety, eco-design, reliability/availability/maintainability (RAM), human factors, diagnostics, data analytics, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
We are looking for a Reliability Specialist to join Akkodis team in Hengelo, the Netherlands.
About the job
The advanced radar and combat management systems being developed at Thales have high demands regarding operational availability. As a Reliability Engineer, you will be part of the system engineering team and will significantly contribute to achieving that availability: as an expert in reliability, availability, and maintainability, you play a crucial role in the design process. Currently, there are three Reliability Engineers working fulltime as specialists in the team. Additionally, numerous other designers are involved in various ways in ensuring the reliability of the systems being developed.
During the design phase of the systems, you will model the solution direction, analyze design alternatives, and assess them based on their reliability and maintainability. When appropriate, you will provide advice on alternative solutions that could offer better contributions. You will be able to make sound trade-offs between effort, risks, other interests, and the ultimate result.
You will collaborate extensively with other System Engineers as well as Engineers from other disciplines, such as design, testing, logistics, and article teams. You will delve into the theoretical and practical failure behaviors of the systems at the level where the system components are integrated. You will prepare reports in the format requested by the customer, if applicable.
Reliability analyses of the system components developed by Thales Netherlands are conducted at the printed circuit board level using reliability prediction methods. You will contribute to this to some extent and provide insights to involved engineers. Additionally, you will incorporate practical knowledge gained about reliability and maintainability into future analyses and recommendations.
As an expert, you are expected to keep up with developments in the field, gain experience with software tools and modelling techniques to maintain your knowledge, and proactively connect with the engineering disciplines you collaborate with closely.
About you
We are looking for a new colleague who:
- Holds a completed HBO or WO degree in a technical field;
- Has an affinity for RAM engineering (DfR, RBD, FMECA, MTBF, MTBCF, MTTR, 217Plus, parts stress, etc.);
- Experience/knowledge in the area of Human Factors is a strong plus;
- Is capable of performing failure rate/MTBF calculations supported by tools based on information provided by the design engineer and/or suppliers;
- Has an affinity for electronic components and electronics in general;
- Wants to be part of the design process for complex technical systems;
- Can see the big picture while also having technical depth;
- Possesses good analytical and conceptual skills;
- Is communicative, proactive, and able to engage easily with various people at both technical detail and higher abstraction levels;
- Is a team player who can also navigate independently and enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams;
- Has a good command of the English language, both spoken and written. The Dutch language will be considered an advantage.
