Are you a true technician at heart with experience in gas or cryogenic systems? Do you enjoy hands-on work, think in solutions, and want to work on specialized equipment in a modern workshop? Then this is your opportunity to become a Gas & Cryo Tank Container Mechanic!

At Schenk Intermodal, we focus daily on the intermodal transport of industrial gases, CO₂, and LNG. Our fleet of around 1,000 tank containers is equipped with advanced technology and requires skilled maintenance. In our in-house workshop—specially equipped for this type of equipment—you and a small team are responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and inspections of these tanks. No day is the same, and your technical insight and sense of responsibility make a real impact.

What does the job involve?

You will work independently and in collaboration with colleagues to ensure our tank containers remain safe and operational. You’ll be responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and making technical modifications. You’ll work with high-end equipment in a safe and well-organized environment, applying various techniques from welding to electronics, and from gas measurements to pressure testing.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to learn, contribute ideas for improvement, and specialize further in a niche area of engineering. You’ll work on unique equipment and help ensure the safe transport of hazardous materials.

Your main tasks:

  • Repairing damage to the frame and structure of tank containers, including welding tasks (TIG/MIG/MAG)
  • Performing routine maintenance and inspections
  • Diagnosing issues and overhauling valves and fittings
  • Conducting gas measurements, pressure tests, and safety checks
  • Resolving electrical faults and performing basic electronic repairs
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly workspace in compliance with safety regulations

What does Schenk offer?

  • A gross monthly salary between €2,800 and €4,200 based on a 40-hour work week (depending on experience and education)
  • 8% holiday allowance and 27.5 vacation days (20 statutory, 4 additional, and 3.5 compensatory days)
  • A pleasant working atmosphere in a successful and growing international transport company
  • A modern workshop focused on safety and quality
  • Opportunities for development through training and courses
  • A strong pension scheme with Zwitserleven, offering excellent terms and security

What do you bring?

  • A completed education in engineering or metalworking
  • Demonstrable work experience as a mechanic, preferably with tank containers
  • Welding certification or willingness to obtain one (TIG and MIG/MAG are a plus)
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials is an advantage
  • A proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented work attitude
  • A team player with a hands-on mentality and an eye for quality
