Our client

Our client is a leading SaaS company that is rapidly building a new, cutting-edge platform, is seeking a visionary Product Owner, Data & BI to join their dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the data foundation of their future and truly make a significant impact on their core product.

The Role

Our client is looking for a Product Owner, Data & BI, who will be the crucial link between their evolving business needs and robust technical BI solutions. Your primary goal will be to steer the development team to deliver reliable, scalable, and well-maintainable data products that empower the entire organization. You will own the vision and roadmap for their home-grown BI platform, ensuring it evolves from its current state into a future-proof, modern data stack.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Roadmap Ownership: Defining, prioritizing, and translating business requirements into a clear product backlog of features and improvements for the BI platform. This involves balancing technical debt, new features, and architectural improvements to maximize business value and enable future-proofing;
  • Team Leadership: Guiding and managing the BI development team (internal or external) within an Agile/Scrum framework;
  • Data Integrity & Governance: Taking full ownership of the data model, ETL processes, and KPI definitions, while establishing and enforcing robust processes for data quality, consistency, performance, and governance (including GDPR);
  • Architectural Guidance: Advising on structural improvements, architectural choices, and enabling a step-by-step modernization strategy for the platform;
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Serving as the central point of contact for management, end-users, IT, and compliance, adeptly managing priorities, communicating technical consequences, and ensuring alignment across sometimes conflicting interests.

Your profile

  • Proven Product Owner/Manager track record, ideally within data or SaaS-driven product environments;
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary Agile/Scrum teams;
  • Extensive Microsoft BI Stack Experience including SQL Server (T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning) and ETL processes via SSIS, BIML, or comparable tools;
  • Proven ability to design data warehouses and data models (dimensional modeling/Kimball);
  • Someone who fluently speaks the language of both the data engineer and the end-user, translating business needs into clear, achievable requirements and technical implications into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders;
  • You possess strong analytical and conceptual skills, combining deep technical insight (SQL, ETL, data modeling, performance optimization) with a strategic overview, an eye for detail, and the ability to assess the long-term impact of technical choices without needing to code yourself. You can quickly gain insight into existing ETL logic, data models, and KPI definitions, improving them without unnecessary risks, even if documentation is limited;
  • A self-starting, decisive, and highly structured professional who excels at building and maintaining a clear product backlog, setting sharp priorities, and ensuring excellent documentation and knowledge transfer. You think process-oriented, prevent ad-hoc incident management, and thrive on bringing order and continuity to a complex BI environment;
  • Adept at stakeholder management, capable of clear communication on both technical and non-technical levels, and able to confidently navigate discussions with management, IT, and business to ensure alignment;
  • Fluent in Dutch;
  • HBO/WO (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Informatics, Business Information Management, Data Science, or a comparable field.
